Calendar on iPhone
The calendar connector is part of the GetDone iPhone app, which is coming soon. It shows today’s events inside My Day and can put your dated tasks on a calendar of your choice. Here is exactly what it does with your calendar.
Privacy questions
Are my calendar events uploaded to GetDone?
No. Events are read on your phone, shown in the app, and stay there. They are not sent to our servers, not stored in our database and not shown on the website.
Which calendars can GetDone see?
iOS asks for permission the first time you turn the feature on. Even then, GetDone reads only the calendars you tick under Show on this device. Leave a calendar unticked and its events are never read.
What does GetDone save about my calendar?
Two things. On the phone: which calendars you ticked. In your GetDone account: only the name of the calendar and its account that tasks are written to (for example “Tasks” on “iCloud”), so all your phones agree.
Can GetDone change my events?
Only the ones it created itself from your tasks. Each carries a hidden marker. Your own events, even in the same calendar, are never edited or deleted.
Does it work with Google or Outlook calendars?
It uses the calendars set up in your iPhone’s Calendar app, including Google, iCloud and Exchange accounts. GetDone does not connect to those services itself.
What it does
- Today’s schedule: events from your ticked calendars appear at the top of My Day. Tap one to open it in the standard iOS event screen.
- Tasks on your calendar (optional): every open task with a due date becomes an event in the calendar you pick. Tasks with only a date are all-day events; tasks with a time last 30 minutes. Finished or deleted tasks are removed from the calendar.
- Open in GetDone: the event’s Open button jumps to the task.
Set it up
- Settings, Connect tools, Calendar.
- Allow calendar access when iOS asks.
- Turn on Show events in My Day and tick the calendars you want.
- Optionally choose Add my tasks to and pick a calendar. A dedicated calendar such as “Tasks” keeps things tidy.
Using two phones
If you use GetDone on more than one iPhone with the same calendar, you will not get duplicates. Every event GetDone creates is recognised by its marker, so a second phone reuses the existing one. What to show is chosen separately on each phone; where tasks are written is shared across your account.
Things to know
- Change a task’s time in GetDone, not in the Calendar app. Edits made to the event itself are put back to the task’s time at the next sync.
- If you delete a GetDone event by hand, it comes back at the next sync while the task still has that date. To stop it, change the task or switch the feature off.
Turn it off
In the same screen choose Don’t add tasks to a calendar (this removes the events GetDone created) and switch off Show events in My Day. To remove access completely, open the iPhone’s Settings app, GetDone, Calendars, and choose Never.
