Repeating tasks
A repeating task is one task at a time. When you check it off, GetDone creates the next one for you, with the next due date. You never get a wall of future copies.
Make a task repeat
- While adding: type the repeat, for example
pay rent every 21storstand-up every weekday 9:30am. - Later: open the task and choose Repeat. Options are every day, weekday, week, month or year.
How the next date is worked out
- It steps forward from the task’s due date by one period, and keeps going until the date is in the future. So if a weekly task is two weeks late and you check it off, the next one lands on the next upcoming date, not in the past.
- Every weekday skips weekends: after Friday comes Monday.
- Monthly keeps the day of the month. If a month is shorter, it uses the last day (the 31st becomes the 30th in a 30-day month).
- A task with no due date repeats from the moment you finish it.
- Labels and project carry over to the next task.
Common questions
I checked it off by mistake.
Uncheck it. The next task is only ever created once, so unchecking and checking again will not add another.
How do I stop a repeat?
Open the task and set Repeat to “Doesn’t repeat” before you finish it, or delete the task. Deleting a repeating task ends the series.
Can Jira tasks repeat?
No. Tasks imported from Jira follow Jira, so repeats are for your own tasks.
