Widgets on iPhone and Android
The GetDone iPhone and Android apps, which are coming soon, have three widgets so you can see your day and add a task without opening the app.
The widgets
- My Day: today’s open tasks: due today, overdue, in progress and, if you keep them in My Day, those with no date. Tap a task to open it, or the header to open My Day. On iPhone there are also Lock Screen versions.
- Projects: the open tasks of the projects you choose, one or several. On iPhone touch and hold the widget, then Edit Widget. On Android a screen asks when you add it, and you can reconfigure it later. With none chosen it shows your first project.
- Quick Add: a bar you tap to add a task: GetDone opens ready for you to type, with the same shortcuts as the quick-add bar. On iPhone it also has two round buttons, one for My Day and one for Search. See Add tasks by typing a sentence.
Control Center and Quick Settings
- iPhone (iOS 18 or later): add the Add task control to Control Center (swipe down from the top right, tap the plus at the top left, then Add a Control). You can also put it on the Lock Screen or the Action Button.
- Android: open GetDone, Settings, Quick Settings, and tap Add “Add task” to Quick Settings. Or pull the shade down twice, tap the pencil and drag the tile in.
Add one
- iPhone: touch and hold the Home Screen, tap the plus, search for GetDone, pick a widget and size, then Add Widget.
- Android: touch and hold the home screen, choose Widgets, find GetDone, pick one and drag it into place. Drag its corners to resize.
Good to know
- Open the app once after signing in so the widgets have your tasks. They refresh whenever your tasks change and every so often in between, so a change made on another device can take a little while to show.
- Privacy: a widget shows only what the app has already saved on your phone. It does not sign in or contact anyone itself, and signing out clears it.
- Android: the circle next to a task checks it off from the widget, except for tasks from a connected tool such as Jira, where the circle opens the task so a status change is always your choice.
- iPhone: widgets are read-only for now. Tap a task to open it. With a Clear or Tinted Home Screen the Quick Add bar becomes an outline.
- Titles are cut to fit, and “+ N more” tells you how many did not fit.
